Experience

With over 22 years in law enforcement in British Columbia and Alberta, I have seen the struggles and shortcomings of helping those in need. Also ordained as a Minister as a non donomination and the other Christian in good standing with both. 

I have seen first hand how officers did not have the time, resources or  to deal with a situation and would just check up on the person and leave due to the backlog of calls. 

I was lucky I was able to take that extra time and find out more about the person I was dealing with and what issues they faced. I could then tailor my approach to better suit their needs. 

Many just wanted to be heard and treated with dignity and respect. It was very impactful on me as an officer to find out the backstory and to see the real person behind the call. I have seen that many were just hit with bad luck and for some ending up on the streets was out of their control. 

Looking back I am extremely proud and grateful to those who opened up to me instead of just seeing the uniform or going off past negative encounters with law enforcement. We take a non judgemental approach to dealing with our clients and don't just look at the issues that caused them to be in the situation they are currently in.
